Lepakshi Temple

Historians urged the government to take steps to get the Lepakshi temple included in the UNESCO heritage list.

Key Highlights

• Location: Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh 
• Architecture: Dravidian-style architecture 
• This temple is devoted to Lord Veerabhadra, a form of Lord Shiva.
• In March 2023, UNESCO added the Lepakshi Veerabhadra Temple complex to its provisional list of Heritage Sites.

Current Status  

The State and Central governments are now responsible for conducting a detailed study of the temple's architecture, sculptures, mural paintings, and the world's largest monolithic bull statue, known as Nandi. They will compile their findings into a report for the Central Government.
