Pinaka Rocket Systems
The Indian Army has set a Rs 10,200 crore order for ammunition related to the Indigenous Pinaka Multi-Launch Rocket System (MLRS).
Key Highlights
- Developed by: Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO).
- It is named after a mythical weapon “Pinaka,” used by Lord Shiva.
- Range: It can hit targets at 75 kilometres and beyond.
- The Pinaka Systems can fire 12 rockets in just 44 seconds, which makes it an effective weapon for quickly overwhelming enemy defences.
- 1st Export Customer: Armenia became the first export customer for the indigenously developed Pinaka with interest expressed by several countries in the system.
