Impeachment of Vice President
The Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha has rejected the opposition’s no-confidence motion against the Vice President.

- The Vice-President holds office for a term of five years.
- He/she can address his/her resignation letter to the President at any time.
- He/she can be removed from office through a resolution passed by an effective majority of the Rajya Sabha and agreed to by the Lok Sabha with a simple majority.
- Article 67 (b): such a resolution for removal can only be introduced in Rajya Sabha.
- At least 14 days' notice must be given of the intention to move the resolution.
