Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) Based Tolling
The Indian Government is planning to implement the GNSS-based toll collection systems starting April 2025.
Key Highlights
- It is a new satellite-based toll collection system that will track the vehicle's location and charge tolls based on the distance travelled.
- It aims to replace the existing toll collection system, FASTag.
- Vehicles with GNSS equipment will be able to travel up to 20 km for free each day on the National Highways and Expressways.
