Recently, the World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF India) has launched an initiative to count vultures and raise awareness of the critically endangered species.

Importance of Vulture
- Vultures play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. They prevent the spread of other diseases that could affect different livestock, wildlife and humans.
- They serve as nature’s clean-up crew by feeding on the infected carcass (infected dead bodies of animals) which kills the pathogens and breaks the chain of infections.
