La Nina

According to the Bureau of Metrology, Australia, there are early signs that a La Nina weather pattern may form in the Pacific Ocean later this year.

  • It is a climate pattern that describes the cooling of surface-ocean water along the tropical west coast of South America.
  • La Niña is a weather phenomenon that occurs in the Pacific Ocean. 
  • It is the reverse phenomenon of El Niño, and both are part of the larger El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) cycle
