One Vehicle, One FASTag

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has enforced the ‘One Vehicle, One FASTag’ rule in India since 1st April 2024.

Key Highlights

(i) FASTag: It is an electronic toll collection system in India, operated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). 

(ii) It employs Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology for making toll payments directly from the prepaid or savings account linked

(iii) It will improve the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system.

(iv) It provides seamless movement at toll plazas. 

(v) It also prevents the use of a single FASTag for multiple vehicles or linking multiple FASTags to a particular vehicle.
