Indian Navy–EU Naval Force Joint Exercise
• Indian Navy and European Union Naval Force (EUNAVFOR) recently conducted their first ever exercise in the Gulf of Aden.
Key Points
• Indian Naval Ship Trikand participated in the exercise, which is currently deployed for anti-piracy operations.
• The exercise was based on the scenario of an anti-piracy operation. It included cross-deck helicopter landings, complex tactical evolutions at sea, live firing, a night-time joint patrol and a naval parade in the high seas off the coast of Somalia.
NOTE: Indian Navy and EUNAVFOR navies conduct regular interaction through SHADE (Shared Awareness and Deconfliction) meetings which is held annually at Bahrain.
